Licensing Policy
The Journal of Emerging Medical Sciences (JEMS) is committed to promoting open access, ethical reuse, and the widest possible dissemination of published research. To support transparency and align with international publishing standards, JEMS adopts a structured licensing policy that allows authors to retain ownership of their work while granting necessary permissions for publication, distribution, and reuse.
All articles published in JEMS are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License (CC BY 4.0), unless stated otherwise. This license permits readers and third parties to share (copy and redistribute) the article in any medium or format, and to adapt (remix, transform, and build upon) the work for any purpose, including commercial use, provided appropriate credit is given to the original authors. This open licensing model encourages broader impact and knowledge sharing without barriers.
Authors who publish with JEMS retain full copyright of their work. By submitting to the journal, authors grant JEMS the non-exclusive right to publish, distribute, and archive the article. Authors are free to deposit preprints or accepted versions of their manuscript in institutional repositories, preprint servers, or on personal websites. They may also use their published work in future academic endeavors, including books, theses, and conference presentations, and may distribute copies for educational or non-commercial research purposes.
JEMS reserves the right to disseminate published content through indexing services, digital archives, and databases to ensure visibility and scholarly preservation. In cases where post-publication issues arise, JEMS has the authority to issue errata, corrections, or retractions in accordance with COPE guidelines, thereby preserving the academic integrity of the journal.
In instances where third-party copyrighted material such as figures, images, or tables is included in a manuscript, it is the author’s responsibility to obtain written permission from the original copyright holder. Proper attribution must be given within the manuscript, and the use must comply with the licensing terms under which the original material was released.
The CC BY 4.0 license supports both commercial and non-commercial use of published content. Researchers, educators, and organizations may freely incorporate JEMS content into teaching materials, professional presentations, and industry reports, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original source.
For certain article types, such as editorials, commentaries, or thematic collections, JEMS may offer alternative Creative Commons licenses based on specific author, funder, or institutional requirements. Authors seeking a different licensing arrangement should contact the editorial office prior to publication.
JEMS expects all users of its content to comply strictly with the terms of the applicable license. Unauthorized use without proper attribution constitutes a violation of copyright law and may result in corrective or legal action. For all questions related to licensing terms, third-party content permissions, or special publication needs, authors and readers are encouraged to contact the JEMS Editorial Office at editor@jemedsci.com.
By submitting manuscripts to JEMS, authors acknowledge and accept the journal’s licensing policy, thereby contributing to ethical, responsible, and accessible scientific publishing.
