Archiving Policy

Digital Preservation and Archiving Policy

The Journal of Emerging Medical Sciences (JEMS) is committed to the long-term preservation and accessibility of its published content. To ensure the integrity and availability of scholarly work, JEMS employs the following internationally recognized archiving and preservation systems:

  1. LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe):
JEMS utilizes the LOCKSS program to maintain a distributed network of archived content, ensuring continued accessibility even in the event of data loss or journal discontinuation.

  2. CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS):
Participation in CLOCKSS guarantees the secure, open-access preservation of journal content in case of unexpected journal inactivity.

  3. PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN):
Integrated with the Open Journal Systems (OJS), PKP PN provides automated digital archiving, supporting compliance with open-access standards.

  4. CrossRef DOI Registration:
All JEMS articles are assigned unique Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs) to ensure persistent linking, citation reliability, and long-term discoverability.

  5. Institutional and Cloud-Based Backups:
Regular backups of all content and metadata are maintained on secure institutional servers and cloud platforms to prevent data loss due to system failures or cyber threats.

  6. Self-Archiving Policy:
JEMS permits authors to self-archive preprints, accepted manuscripts, and published versions under the following conditions:

    • Preprints: May be shared on non-commercial platforms with attribution.

    • Accepted Manuscripts: May be deposited in institutional repositories with proper citation.

    • Published PDFs: May be retained for personal use; redistribution for commercial purposes is prohibited.
